Private coaching for caregivers of dementia

For those who are ready to transform caregiving for Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia from problem-ridden tasks to a solutions-based journey.

You are a busy professional with a family.

And a loved one was just diagnosed with dementia. Or maybe they were diagnosed a few years ago and things suddenly started declining. You really have to start getting involved. You don’t know where to start and feel there is only time to react to crisis after crisis as you juggle being on the phone with your boss in one hand, and your child in the other.

You need someone with medical knowledge and caregiving experience who understands what it’s like. To help you grow your knowledge, and build your confidence. To help you create medical, legal, and financial blueprints. To anticipate problems before they arise. And to remind you to build in self-care.

You're also looking for not quite a support group (who has the time?), but for a reputable place where you can access facts and share in story-telling on your own time.

This journey of dementia caregiving is a mash-up of hope and despair, of laughs and tears, and of the shortest memories and the longest good-byes.

Let an Advanced Practice Nurse in neurology, with formal teaching experience, and six years of battle-tested caregiving experience help you wade through this and get your life back.

It took me years to figure out how to process the caregiving role in a healthy manner. Don’t wait that long to passively let things fall into place. They won’t. You have to take control. That’s why you’re here.

I did not become an Advanced Practice Nurse to talk at people.; I became one to partner with and empower people to customize care and creatively problem solve to live their best lives. APN’s are trained to anticipate and prevent problems and complications before they arise. They are also strong advocates for much-deserved care for the caregivers.

You’ve noticed by now there is no instruction manual for dementia caregiving.

Let me be your instruction manual.

I get it. You’re tired. You’re overwhelmed.

But you’re here.

So join me, whether it’s five minutes a day on our Ultimate Dementia Resource Group on Facebook, or 15 minutes once a week on our Minding After podcast. I can’t wait to meet you and hear your story.

Even as a medical provider with an understanding of dementia and the health care system, I was frequently in tears when faced with all of the decisions that I had to make when my aunt was diagnosed with dementia just before the pandemic struck.

The only thing I wanted to be was my aunt’s niece again. Not her medical provider, not her financial manager, and certainly not a constantly hypervigilant worrier. The only thing that got me through was the support I had from family and friends.

There is no instruction manual for dementia caregiving. Consider me your instruction manual.

I want things to be different for you. I’m so glad you’re here.

I am an Advanced Practice Nurse in neurology and, like you, a dementia caregiver.
